of great food, dance shows, train journeys, monsoons and God

life is a bliss at present. been like almost 7 weeks at home. and for someone like me who thot life wud be boring at home after 7 days, its sheer ecstacy. its been more than a month since i blogged.. and so much happened, that no way i can write it all here.. so lets see how much i can put down here without getting confused or tired..

ummm, lets go back a month ago.. what was i upto? end of last month.. hmmmm.. there was so much happening.. lets just go in random order.. i shopped like crazy.. bought new clothes and shoes. i have totally quit my older dressing sense of kurtas and 3/4ths and all that, its now just tee and jeans. hee. many of u will be like, finally! haha.. i went out with loadsa friends.. caught up wth some more.. saw star wars, bunty aur babli. went mocha a few times. am addicted to hookah.. i ate the the most awesome-est of places.. Karim's at chandni chowk in old delhi.. WHAT FOOD, when i had my bite, my first reaction was, where was i this 20 years of my wasted life????? i had never tasted anything like this.. it was divine.. the kebabs, the mutton curries, the minced meat, the breads, the dessert, they were frankly the best i have ever had. and being the foodie that i am, u must trust me.. and the critics too.. its been always rated the best north Indian restaurant for ages. by one and all. all u deprived souls, must eat there at least once, to know how u define satisfaction. the restaurant uses recipes which were used by the royal cooks in the kitchens of mughal emperors.. their descendants have carried on the legacy and doing a brilliant job indeed! cheers to them!

the dance workshop finally got over..Shiamak Davar's Summer Funk 2005.. was a great expreience.. both my performances were rocking and i enjoyed every bit of being on stage. at least i think so. my folks and all, even malavika's were surprised they didnt nominate me for best dancer and all.. such high hopes i say.. i dun think i dance well, may be if it was a typical bollywood song, i wud have rocked the party, but with rock the party, i was just out there to enjoy myself. the final day was great. apart from the fact i had to get up early and stay in thet ugly shiny costume for the whole day.. overall it was fun, some really nice ppl in our group. these kids like nitin, srishti, nandita, taran, who are like 12-14 years old were so adorable. Nitin oredi sent me an egreeting saying he misses me! how cute is that.. some other awesome ppl like bharti, ritu, swati, shweta, upasna were really fun to have as class mates. and of course there was malavika. the rewari. she was the one who made me join this. she was the one who wanted to quit as soon as she heard we have to perform live on stage. she was also the one who was dancing last day when we didnt have to, backstage! i do change ppl!!! and am so proud its malavika rewari. she was absolutely full time entertainment during classes. when she forgot to get her towel/floor mat and she was made to dance/warm up while holding the pillar, like a tree in a hindi film. or when she had the biggest crush on a 17 year old guy batchmate. no names taken..or when we danced rock and roll together and rocked completely. her answers like, inhale exhale and when she always got up the wrong direction after surya namaskar. her dance moves are super cool! must check her out sometime. she is rehearsing for 'Mera piya ghar aaya' these days. a situational song. hint hint. finally there was apoo. our instructor. a pity we cudnt take a pic with her. she was absolutely fantastic. i mean it does take a lot to laugh off all my ideosyncracies in class, and never get angry. no one else has ever done that. thats why, she is brilliant. and wat a dancer. there was also akshay who replaced her in the last coupla classes, really strict but he did put in so much energy in us, so i dun complain. another great dancer. like duh, they're friggin instructors.. during the final day, there were a lot of groups from al over delhi, and what chicks! there was this girl dancing on a particular song, no names. and me (and malo) were totally checking her out. she danced well too, and looked hot being in the lead. there were the most adorable little 4-10 year old kids! who were absolutely thrilled to be on stage. and with those colorful bollywood style costumes and the dance moves, they were rocking. esp this little girl from dhadak dhadak song, she was a show stealer. the shiamak's sp batches were too good. the energy and the synchronisation was unbelievable. but what surprised me most was how star struck ppl were by shiamak davar. its crazy. i do acknowledge what he's achieved, and what he's good at. but even then, ppl went outta control. like backstage when we returned after our performance. all my class went mad, sans me and malo, the abnormal ones. they wanted to take a pic. did take a pic, but i guess it really bugged shiamak coz i dun think he came in it only. ppl didnt wanna sit and wanted him to be with them. i dun blame him if he was pissed. anyways. overall. great experience, lots of fun. a major contribution into not letting my hols go boring.

there was also the annual anupam's birthday treat, the most celebrated event every year among my friends. since most ppl were not around on his birthday, me him and gunjan basically went to south delhi.he treated all of us the next week at khaja chowk and mocha, anyways on his birthday, we went saket pvr, mocha, and of course there was the famous hit and run incident. so it happened, our dear birthday boy just learnt driving. and he bought his car for the first time. as we left saket for GK to go mocha, on our way at this crossing, he hit a red color honda city from back and cracked its bumper, almost broke it. basically he was paying attention towards the air con and dint realise the car in front had halted. so when it hit, the driver of the car, a 25-26 year old woman, extremly healthy and dangerous looking parked the car at the side to confront us. and pam just pressed the accelrator at a force never seen before. and so started the chase.. the girl was following us with her mighty honda city, while we were in this puny hyundai santro. i cudnt even dare to look back. naturally, she closed in, and in the end, she skid her car in front of us, like some hindi movie, and blocked the road parking the car diognally in the middle of the road, opened the door, glared at us. meanwhile our dear old pam was scared outta his nuts, fortunately we had a small opening on the side, he barely saw it, took a very fast u turn, we laughed at that woman and fled at top speed. it was hilarious. am sure he still gets nightmares of the red honda car. if she is reading this in case. she is bound to track me down somehow and torture us. she is quite capable.

suddenly i realised it was way past mid june, and i had a trip to bombay lurking around the corner. meanwhile, i had my dreadful subject registration for second year, i ditched malavika for 3 movie dates in a row, and i had my daadu's 75th birthday on 19th. which was also father's day, so as a present, my dad and uncle gave him a surprise party at the vasant vihar club. the whole party was my idea with my ulterior motives of gulping down the champagne. haha. all his old friends from work, pre retirement days, present day friends, and the closest of family members were invited. a relatively small scale party, but it was wonderful. he loved it immensely and all of us had a good time too. the champagne sucked though. this particular one we opened i mean. boo hoo.

the very next day, i left for mumbai. looking forward to a really good time. i went by train, the all new and improved rajdhani express. i never really liked long train journeys. with friends its different, with family alltogether a different story. nevertheless, train journeys in this country are always an experience. the people, the smells, the food, the windows, the view outside, the sleeping berths, all very dictinct and unique. bombay's always a refreshing change, in the sense that it offers me a very Indian urban life yet very different from delhi. its so much hustle bustle. the seas, and the people esp. so much more bindaas and carefree unlike the very conscious delhi ppl. i did notice in mumbai, either ppl are very rich or extremly poor. u dun really see a middle class which is abundant in delhi. i guess thats a reason, ppl here are more conscious. coz one interacts with all kinds of ppl here, while bombay's ppl are more within their circuit. but its a great great place. the family i stayed with were really awesome. watched batman begins at the imax dome, which boasts of being the largest in the world. stayed their beach house playing play station all night. i didnt know i had this hidden talent in tony hawks. i rocked completely. beat Zain in a lot of games. met up with prabhoo, prabha and -Xander 'the goli' Wacharapapapong Szpilman Agdashloo- his new name. ironically he was amused by the name alexander popp at wimbledon. it was great catching up with them, they thot i had lost weight! an insult to my mom i say. she left no kasar to feed me 24/7. anyways the Bombay Monsoon Rains were the BESTEST, totally awesome weather in bombay. raining everyday. and unlike singapore, ppl enjoy rains here, so all the more joy to see happy faces around!! Kazim's comp had no sound card so i cudnt really get a new series to watch, but i did get the howard stern radio show. which i thoroughly enjoyed on my train journey back home. the whole point of bombay trip was my mom's intentions to take me to shirdi, this pilgrimage of a holy saint called sai baba some 300 km from mumbai. its a very very famous place, and is thronged by loads of pilgrims. i wasnt really interested. but i had to go. dragged by my hair. ok not that bad really. thats what makes me talk about God here..

i am not an atheist. as many belive. i believe in God. been born a hindu in a country like mine, it never really mattered the way u follow the religion. i see no definite pattern. its just a way of living. God always has been to me someone up somewhere who is there to answer my prayers. whom i thank at various times and whom i ask for various things, basically happiness, good marks and blah blah. but then i dun really get the whole funda of religion. took this module in my first sem, Religion and social life. coz i was genuinely interested to know more. i realised. somewhere down there, they all say the same things, may be in a different language, tone, region or in a different way of practice. i respect all religions. all of them. my folks have never forced anything they follow on me. i totally love them for that. i prefer a gurudwara to a temple anyday. no one is bothered. yes they will be affected if i convert to some religion or something. but thats not happening ever. i respect all, pray to all gods, but i love the way my spiritual life is. at least for now. my parents think i hate the idea of going to temples, so i dun believe in God. well, if i didnt, why wud i love going to a gurudwara. i find it more peaceful, more organised, more quiet. and then, why shud we go to a temple to make God listen to me. why cant i do it now! unless i get an answer good enuff, i will continue this way. one thing that stuck me when i was at the temple at shirdi. why cant God be merciful to those millions of poor and needy. like what have they done to deserve a life like this. i have been seeing the poverty around for very long. but this time, dunno why or how, something touched me. i felt so lucky to be born and get what i have now. i know i shud be thankful. but i cant help but feel for those who still cant manage a meal a day. those who are old, alone, and extremely poor. i dun wanna sound all dramatic, but its a fact, just my stating here gets too much may be. anyways, why doesnt God take care of them?? thats the point. and what can we do to help them? nothing at all. may be help like 3 of them. but there are millions! all i can do is pray myself, and ask u guys to pray for them. but i dunno what to pray for. really dun.
life's a fucking bitch. loathe it at times.

a sad ending to an eventful blog..
another 12 days left for the 3 singaporeans to come down to my place. havent planned anything in concrete. no solid schedule. i do have plans, of what we gonna do. but i guess this is the thing about this country. u can never know whats gonna happen. so lets just let them reach here, and then we do things the way we wanna, when we wanna. and make sure they have the best time. amen!
