the flashback- part I

Lavanya calls me the flashback king, and its true, i love re-living the good bad memories of my life.. with anyone.. be it Sumit, Lavanya, Supriya, Lok Man, Anupam or Rachita or even my mom sometimes.. its just so cool.. my life has been thru so much, and I always make it a point to enjoy reminiscence..
Back home, i'm on phone 24X7, talking to my old frenz about the school days.. the innocent harmless (not always) fun, of bunking classes, studying hard, buttering teachers, or bitching behind their backs, BGRs, those little outings, movies, the school trips, or the special moments even on normal days.. they never fail to tickle me.. small things like little pranks in the school bus, playing 'hide and seek' or 'gully cricket' with the neighbourhood friends, or those silly games like hang man/name place animal thing/trump cards with cousins/classmates. haha, even as i write all this, i feel kinda emotional.. touched in some way..
childhood is certainly the best phase, there are just so many good memories to look back at.. not that my present life lacks memorable experiences, but then, they arent that special at present, coz they can be repeated in the near future, but the first 16 years of my life which i spent in Delhi, i dun think i can ever re live those times.. life has become so busy now.. even as i look at my siblings/cousins growing up, i see so much difference, there is more of tv/internet and useless stress and lesser outdoor fun, and studying.
I vividly remember my experiences, i did everything i cud in those years, studied hard, played hard, watched lots of tv, kept myself generally aware, grew up on novels. comics, had crushes, shared secrets with frenz, sneaked into tv room after midnight with winky(my cousin, i stay in a joint family rememeber) to watch late night movies, or sneaked out when he was practicing driving oblivious to my family, or talking all thru the night with cousins, while playing dark room, or the hours long phone calls with frenz on the pretext of asking doubts,.. haha..
can proudly say i had 'an almost' perfect adololescent phase. i was a major couch potato(not hard to guess when u look at me).. i dun rememeber how i managed my time, but i know i never faced problems, use to come back from school at 1:50 pm, take a nap, study, play, and watch lots and lots of tv.. i cant remember any show i didnt follow at that time. sundays mornings were so typical, a cricket match at the park early morning followed by tv till late afternoon, comprising of the regular disney shows followed by some catching up on studies, i can say i was a geeky guy, but i never failed to enjoy myself with unadulterated fun.. hehe.. watching tv was like a religion, regular comedies like shriman shrimati, tu tu main main, dekh bhai dekh.. there were soooo many shows.. and i have seen them all.. hee hee..
there were the tuition years in 9th/10th, where i made new set of frends, hung out for hours after classes talking nonsense, and discussing boy stuff..
another major part of growing up were festivals/holidays, i remmeber the kite flying season, when we used to spend the whole of 14th august night tying 'kannas' on the kites, and preparing ourselves for the big battle the next day with the neighbours.. on how excited we used to be, spending the whole day on the rooftop, with loud music, and constant bells from the ground floor for us to come down and eat food! but nothing stopped us from making our kites go high up and then shout 'ai bo kaate' when we won..hahahahaha..
or holi, when we spent the whole of previous nite filling water balloons and repleting one bucket after another, unless we were sure we had the strongest equipment(water guns) and the darkest and most stubborn of the colors.. the celevrations went on till late afternoon, when we came back home all drenched in water and coloured from head to toe, that special annual holi shower was the best, scrubbing ourselves real hard, and the special lunch, comprising of awesome gujhiyas.. even those constant scoldings from grandmom about not dirtying the courtyard with the colors are still fresh..
diwali on the other hand was fun only till say 9th class, after which the firecrackers became too smoky to enjoy..
then there was the summer vacation time in may-junes, with cycling, cricket, badminton, novels, holiday projects, more TV and the annual trip to some hill resort in the himalayas.. it was the same thing but yet so different each year.. Tv video games were such a great pastime, i grew up playing mario, contra and stuff.. miss them now..
phew.. all this is just one aspect of my growing up years.. the time at home.. have yet to write about my school days and the people that mattered.. and then of course the big change after coming here.. haha.. so if u really felt this was boring, better not come here for some time, coz more of this stuff coming soon..
have fun :P
