Holi's the best!!
haha, the best holi in a long long time, at least the last 4 years, including the 2 years i was in India in between, this has been a really fun holi for me, despite the fact that i got exams in less than 20 days now, for the first time i truly enjoyed myself, and didnt miss home during a festival while staying in singapore. a great stress buster indeed.
The whole concept of Holi is all about fun and freaking out. one of the very few festivals celebrated all over India, this is also the most action-filled, fun filled and colorful festival. This was the first time Indians@NTU were celebrating it in a big way. there was not much excitement before going for it, but once we reached SRC, we saw colored faces of the people there, and the mood suddenly changed! i wanted to join in and get myself colored too..
there were postgrads, undergrads. there were also a couple of ang mohs and chinese.. hehe.. they were really sporty and am sure had a blast. there were small packets of different colors powders(red, blue, green, yellow, pink, purple, white, orange) which people were rubbing on each other.. faces, hair, clothes, anything that seemed clean.. i didnt know most of the people there, but this festival is about celebrating with one and all.. so i applied color on everyones' faces.. i got hold of the hose and sprayed water on everyone, i danced bhangra on the dhol or DJ with people i didnt know.. i shouted and made lots of noise.. things even got dirrrty, when many of us were pushed to the ground and sabotaged. haha, we were pulled by our legs all around the wet mud, until our backs and asses turned brown! and we dragged ourselves to the hose to clean ourselves only to turn back and be smothered with different colors again.. the music was pretty good, it was quite fun to see the non indians dancing on bhangra! really cute! this ang moh girl was being very hyper going around coloring everyone and being colored herself even worse!! there were some people who just came to watch others play while drinking sherbet quietly in the corner, what suckers.. but as they wish..
divya was super mean on pointing and laughing at me when i danced! but never mind! she doesnt understand bhangra! hehe.. trust me am not bad! Tulsi was as usual going again and again to the hose to get herself washed coz despite her threats people were coloring her hair, but as soon as she turned she was smeared with even more color. Anooj was trying to make army marks on everyone's cheeks with different colors, while Goli was sipping sherbet and playing at the same time. there was super good food from omar sharif, but then u had to pay for it :(
i think at one point i was the dirtiest of all.. haha colored from head to toe, mostly purple. i celebrated for some 4 hours, had really a great time.. and then there was the annual Holi shower with scrub and all.. haha, had a bad time scrubbing myself to get rid of the color, but still have lots of left on my forehead, palms, nails, shoulder and all.. shud take a couple of more days..all it will do until then is remind myself of a real great time i had.. so i hope it takes longer!!
